Mercy is the last born child in a family of 5. She graduated from primary school in 2021 and scored 321 marks out of the possible 500. She got placement at St. Maria. Veronica girls Secondary school. Currently she is in form two and risks dropping out due to financial constraints in her family. Mercy’s father who is an alcoholic cannot support the family in any way. The mother is a subsistence farmer. Empower the World has now taken the responsibility of paying her school fees.
Lucy Nyambura Kuria
Meet Lucy Nyambura Kuria, 20 years old, she is the eldest in a family of 6. Her parents are unemployed and the family faces financial difficulties. Lucy has hearing impairment and with this she attended Ngala School for the deaf for her primary and secondary education. Due to financial challenges it was difficult to raise money for not only school fees but also general basic needs. Currently Lucy is taking a
Diploma in Catering and Accommodation Management. Her dream is to join Kenya Technical Trainers College so that she can later be able to train People suffering with deafness. Empower the world has given her this opportunity in the scholarship program and will support her dream of being an instructor.Erick Leboo Mbiombo
Meet Erick, the fourth-born in a family of five. Born into a single-parent family, Erick’s mother, a dedicated and hardworking woman, supports her children through various menial jobs, such as cleaning people’s laundry. Erick and his family currently reside in a house provided by a well-wisher. Their living situation underscores the stark reality that they do not own any property of their own.
Despite the financial constraints and limited resources, Erick’s academic potential shone brightly when he scored an impressive 340 marks out of a possible 500 in his KCPE exam. This remarkable achievement highlighted his dedication to education and his unwavering commitment to a brighter future. Empower the World Foundation has extended a scholarship opportunity to him. This scholarship will enable Erick to pursue his education at Olkiriaine Secondary School, providing him with the chance to further develop his talents and unlock his full potential.
